Skills Canada
From website revamp to interactive learning platforms & digital media growth
Client Overview
Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC) is a national non-profit dedicated to promoting careers in technology and skilled trades. In 2023, they partnered with U7 Solutions to modernize their decade-old website and expand their digital ecosystem. What began as a website revamp quickly evolved into a series of initiatives, including the Skills for Success student portal and the launch of Skills TV, a new digital content platform.
The Challenge
When SCC approached us, their digital presence faced several roadblocks:
Outdated website – difficult navigation, dated design, and limited content management.
Inefficient program delivery – Skills for Success program materials existed only as PDFs.
New initiatives – Skills TV needed a brand identity, scalable platform, and long-term roadmap.
Cross-cutting needs – bilingual delivery, accessibility, performance, and analytics.
My Role & Our Solution
As Marketing Director at U7, I oversaw the digital strategy and analytics while guiding our design and development teams to execute across three major initiatives:
1. Website Revamp (2023)
Led UX research and heuristic evaluations to redesign site structure.
Directed the development of a modern, bilingual site with mega-menu navigation.
Migrated legacy content and optimized for technical SEO + performance.
Delivered a CMS empowering SCC staff to manage their own content.
2. Skills for Success Student Portal (2024)
Transformed static PDF workbooks into an interactive bilingual portal.
Designed dashboards with progress tracking and auto-scoring.
Enabled student logins, save-progress features, and classroom integration.
3. Skills TV (2025–2026)
Developed brand identity, logo, and design system.
Directed wireframes and mockups for a scalable, video-first platform.
Planned roadmap and scoped development with Angular/NodeJS.
Integrated GA4/GTM tracking plans to measure audience engagement
