Overview
Skills/Compétences Canada is a national non-profit promoting careers in skilled trades and technology. A revamp of their decade-old website grew into three initiatives, including the Skills for Success student portal and the launch of Skills TV.

10 yrsof legacy site replaced
The challenge
- Outdated website: hard to navigate, dated design and limited content management.
- PDF-only programs: Skills for Success materials existed only as static workbooks.
- A new initiative: Skills TV needed a brand, a scalable platform and a roadmap.
- Cross-cutting needs: bilingual delivery, accessibility, performance and analytics.
My role & approach
I led the digital strategy and analytics, and guided U7’s design and development teams across three projects.
01
Website revamp
- UX research and heuristic evaluations to restructure the site
- A modern, bilingual site with mega-menu navigation
- Legacy content migration, technical SEO and performance
- A CMS that lets SCC staff manage their own content
02
Skills for Success student portal
- Turned static PDF workbooks into an interactive bilingual portal
- Dashboards with progress tracking and auto-scoring
- Student logins, saved progress and classroom integration
03
Skills TV
- Brand identity, logo and design system
- Wireframes and mockups for a video-first platform
- Roadmap and development scope (Angular / NodeJS)
- GA4 and GTM tracking plan for audience engagement
Results & impact
- A modern hub: the new site is SCC’s home for programs, events and career resources.
- Easier to use: students, educators and parents find content faster.
- Accessible learning: the portal removed barriers tied to printed PDFs.
- Future-ready: Skills TV launched with measurement built in.
- Empowered team: SCC staff run their own content with user-friendly CMSs and training.
In short
A website redesign became a digital transformation, and SCC now reaches Canadians through a more accessible, future-ready ecosystem.
